What is the minimum configuration?
An instruNet Box (iNet-100 for screw terminals, or iNet-100B for BNC's and screw terminals) and a
Controller card (iNet-200 for PCI, iNet-230 for PCMCIA). iNet-230 PC-Card controllers require 1 external
power supply -- iNet-312.8 (usa plug) or iNet-312.8eu (Euro plug) .
Do I need to order separtely the instruNet Software, Cables, Manuals & Terminator?
No. A cable is included with each box, and a disk/manual/terminator is included with each Controller.
How many instruNet Boxes can I attach to one Controller card?
16.
How many Controller cards can I install on one computer?
16, or as many slots that are available in your computer.
How long can the instruNet cable be?
instruNet has been tested up to 1000 feet, yet theoretically should support up to 4000 feet, especially with
twisted pair cable.
Can I use the #iNet-200 PCI Controller in either a Macintosh or Win 95/98/Me/Nt/2k/Xp/Vs Computer?
Yes, PCI is a standard that fascilliates this, and software is included for both computers.
Do I need a local Earth Ground connection to the iNet-100 box?
An 18gauge wire from the GND screw terminal to a local Earth Ground reduces the chance of the
instruNet ground radiating with RFI, & is recommended when measuring low level signals (e.g. <10mV).
How many iNet-100 boxes can I attach to the computer, via the Controller Card, before I need an
external Power Supply?
The iNet-200 PCI and iNet-220 Nubus Controllers can supply power to up to two iNet-100 boxes. The
iNet-230 PCMCIA Controller requires an external power supply.
How long can my instruNet cable be before I need an external power source at the iNet-100 box?
20 meters.
How many iNet-100 boxes can be powered from the following power sources:
iNet-200 PCI Controller: Can power up to 2 iNet-100’s
iNet-230 PCMCIA Controller: None, without an iNet-312.8 supply
iNet-312.8xx Power Supply: Power 4 i100/i100B, or 3 i100HC
Does the iNet-330 Optical Isolator require an external Power Source?
Yes, they require an iNet-312.8 (usa plug) or iNet-312.8eu (Euro plug) Power Supply
Should my external power source be a linear or switcher type power supply?
Linear is significantly less noisy, especially when working with low level signals, and is therefore highly
recommended.
